Sbarcatore dei Turchi is not a hotel but a smart hospitality system aimed at reducing prices for guests. Staying here could be a unique and fascinating experience, like a journey back in time; vintage furniture for lovers of the genre and a dark retro atmosphere that recalls the colors of Mount Etna, majestically dominating the background.
It feels a bit like being in Havana and a bit like Tribeca. It’s certainly not the right place for those looking for a standard hotel.
The residence, built in the 1960s, is an example of the period’s architecture: the spacious hall and large panoramic terraces host various lounges in a relaxing atmosphere from the past century. The structure is perched on the sea, with direct access to the shoreline and free cliffs.
Here, one can encounter the most unusual and interesting people, or perhaps meet no one at all—nothing is predictable.
Guests will also have the opportunity to access the surrounding natural areas, with walks that offer stunning views of the white cliffs overlooking the crystal-clear sea.
The property offers 11 rooms: 3 double rooms with sea-view balconies, 3 triple rooms with sea-view balconies, 3 quadruple rooms, and 2 single rooms with garden views. On the lower floor, there is a 100 sqm apartment for 4 people.
Upon request, the property offers breakfast service, pick-up from and/or to the airport, and car rental in partnership with Europcar.
The facility also has video-surveilled parking. All rooms, the hall, and common areas are equipped with free Wi-Fi and TV coverage.
Legend has it that in the 16th century, when the Saracens attempted to land here, they were driven back by the armies led by Saint Dominic of Guzman, an event that gave the place its name. The beauty and charm of Sbarcatore dei Turchi were told by Cervantes, the author of Don Quixote, who fought here against the Turks, and by Tomasi di Lampedusa in his novel *The Siren*. In more recent times, the location has been the backdrop for two films: *Casanova '70* by Mario Monicelli and *Le grand bleu* by Luc Besson.
